Getting Started

Build your page

How to add your names, love story, wedding date, and get your site ready to share.

Last updated

Once your account is created, the next step is filling in the basics: your names, wedding date, love story, and at least one event. This information forms the foundation of your wedding website.

Your couple profile

From your dashboard, open Edit site to reach your site editor. The first section is your couple profile:

  • Partner names: Enter each name as you want it displayed. Most couples use first names only (e.g. "Amahle & Sipho").
  • Wedding date: Your main wedding date shown on the site hero and used as the countdown timer.
  • Hero photo: Upload a hero image (a favourite engagement shoot or portrait). Landscape photos work best. Supported formats: JPG, PNG, WebP.

Your love story

The story section lets you tell guests how you met, how the proposal happened, or anything else you want to share. You can keep it short and sweet or go into as much detail as you like. It appears as a dedicated section on your wedding site, below the hero.

Write in your own voice

Your story does not need to be formal. Write as if you are telling a friend. Guests love reading the details, and it sets the tone for the whole wedding experience.

Adding your wedding events

Every couple needs at least one event on their site. Events are the wedding occasions guests will see on your site and RSVP to. Common examples include the main ceremony, a traditional wedding, a pre-wedding dinner, or a post-wedding brunch.

Add your first event from the Events section of the site editor. See Adding events for full details.

Your site link

Every site gets a unique shareable link in the format app.ourbigyes.com/w/your-slug. You can see and customise your slug from the site editor under Site link. Share this link with guests once your site is published.

Note

Your site is private until you publish it. Guests cannot view the link until you pay the one-time publish fee (R399 in South Africa, $29 internationally) and go live. You can work on your site for as long as you need before publishing.
