Cash gift funds let guests contribute any amount to a goal you name, whether that is your honeymoon, a home deposit, a new kitchen appliance, or just the general "help us start our life together" fund. Contributions go directly to your connected payment gateway.
Creating a cash gift fund
Add a fund
- 1
Open your registry
From your dashboard, go to Registry and click Add fund (or Add item and select Cash fund).
- 2
Name your fund
Give it a name that describes the goal (e.g. "Honeymoon in Zanzibar", "Kitchen appliances", "Our first home"). The name appears on your registry exactly as you enter it.
- 3
Add a description and goal amount
Write a short description to tell guests what the fund is for. Optionally set a goal amount in Rands to show a progress bar as contributions come in. If you do not set a goal, guests can contribute any amount they like without seeing a target.
- 4
Upload a cover image
Add an optional image to make the fund more personal. A photo of the destination, a wish-list appliance, or even just a beautiful flat-lay works well.
- 5
Save the fund
Click Save fund. Once your payment gateway is connected, guests can contribute immediately after your site is published.
How guests contribute
On your registry page, guests click a fund and are taken to a contribution page. They enter the amount they want to give and their name, then complete payment through your connected gateway (Paystack, Yoco, PayFast or iKhokha in South Africa, or Stripe internationally). The money goes directly to your gateway account and settles to your bank account on your gateway's normal payout schedule.
Fewer, meaningful funds work better than many small ones
Two or three funds with clear, heartfelt names get more contributions than a long list of small line items. Guests find it easier to choose and feel more connected to what they are helping with.Important
You need a connected payment gateway before guests can contribute to cash funds. Our Big Yes does not hold or process any funds itself. See Connecting a payment gateway.
